Ion Exchange Resins for Power Plant Chemistry
Business Unit Ion Exchange Resins (BU ION) held a presentation about their Lewatit® ion exchanger products at the “Chemistry in a power plant” conference
The Business Unit Ion Exchange Resins (BU ION) presented itself to experts from the energy industry with a booth at the VGB conference on “Chemistry in a power plant” in Dresden at the end of October. The power plant industry is an important market for the BU: Lewatit® ion exchange resins are amongst others used in the treatment of (industrial) process water in power plants and perform various tasks such as complete demineralisation, softening, removal of organic substances or decarbonisation of all relevant process streams. Only ion exchange resins make the smooth and problem-free running of power plants possible and keep fittings, pipelines and turbines free from corrosion and deposits.
The BU ION booth was well visited during the three conference days. The German sales representatives Otmar Großmann, Heinz Schaberger as well as the technical expert Hans-Jürgen Wedemeyer used the opportunity to hold discussions with customers and to make new business contacts. In addition, they presented the new high-performance, gel-type Lewatit MonoPlus® S 108 and Lewatit MonoPlus® S 108 H cation exchangers. These are characterised amongst others by their excellent leaching* performance and high chemical resistance and should go into large-scale production at the Lewatit® ion exchange plant in Bitterfeld from April next year.
The main thematic focus of the VGB conference this year was the analytical monitoring of secondary fuel quality characteristics and the quality assurance of analysis devices itself. Furthermore, the involvement in long-term water supply of lignite-fired power plants in the Rhineland area as well as in flue gas purification was discussed.
GB PowerTech e.V. is the European Association of Power and Heat Generation. The association represents companies operating in the power plants field. In addition to the power plant operators it also includes companies providing product and services to the industry.
