Delegation from Thailand visits LANXESS

BU ION provides information on biodiesel

Biodiesel as an alternative fuel was the focus of the visit by a delegation from Thailand to LANXESS in Leverkusen on September 15. The tour through Germany was organised by the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Political and industry representatives, some of whom already maintain business relationships with LANXESS, listened to a presentation by Rudolf Wagner. The biodiesel expert from the Business Unit Ion Exchange Resins (BU ION) gave a lecture on enhancing the efficiency of biodiesel production with the help of ion exchangers at the Bayer Communication Centre.

“I am happy our guests came such a long way to hear about our Lewatit® products,” Wagner said after his speech. The presentation was followed by a lively discussion, illustrating the high level of interest in this topic among the visitors.

In spite of the fact that demand for biodiesel is currently decreasing due to the low price of crude oil, the product made from renewable resources is an important part of the future energy mix according to Alexander Scheffler, Market Segment Manager Catalysis and Chemicals Processing (CCP) in the BU ION.
