Innovative drinking water production
Water, the world's most important foodstuff, is in short supply in many regions of the globe. Less than one percent of global water reserves is available for human consumption.
Products from LANXESS are therefore being used all over the world to purify drinking water. Lewatit® ion exchange resins play a key role in this process by removing pollutants from water. Hereby Lewatit® premium products are used to remove heavy metals, like lead, uranium and copper; harmful anions, like nitrate, borate, perchlorate, chromate and arsenate; and special hydrocarbons from drinking water. In the process of ion exchange, the contaminated water is passed through a bed of the resins. There, the pollutants are filtered as the ions adsorb the harmful substances and release harmless ions in their place.
