Experts from LANXESS will highlight their ion exchange resins at this year's VGB Conference "Chemistry in power plants 2008", which will be held from October 28-30 in Friedrichshafen, Germany. At this trade conference, the Ion Exchange Resins business unit (BU ION), one of the world's leading manufacturers of ion exchange resins, will focus on its premium products for applications in power plant engineering.

The main topics at the congress will be chemistry in the water-steam circuit, heavy metal analysis, water treatment by the membrane process, carbon dioxide removal from flue gases and the recovery of process water from cooling tower blow down. On October 29, Burkhard Brings from BU ION will present a paper entitled "The removal of radionuclides by modern ion exchange resins in relation to their matrix: Example of the power plant chemistry of a German pressure water reactor". Other papers will deal with the effect of tramp uranium on alpha emitters and corrosion product management in the secondary circuits of nuclear power plants.
