The new LANXESS plant in Jhagadia, India
LANXESS builds new ion exchange resin plant in India
The speciality chemicals company LANXESS is currently building a new ion exchange resin plant in the Indian Gujarat state. The construction work for the new plant in Jhagadia chemical park near Baroda began in summer 2008. The production is scheduled to start at the end of 2010. With an investment of around EUR 50 million, the site will have a new ion exchange resins plant and a rubber chemicals plant, which is being relocated from Thane. The plants will employ 250 workers in total.
In terms of investment volume this is the biggest project undertaken by LANXESS’s Ion Exchange Resins business unit since the end of the 1990s. The new plant will manufacture products for industrial water treatment and the generation of ultra-pure water for the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries.
LANXESS launched an international competition that sites in China, India and Singapore entered. The Jhagadia Chemical Park in India was selected because it already has an excellent industrial infrastructure in place.
